Reseña

Before the emergence of the concept of geopolitics in 1916, this discipline of political geography was not practiced in university or scientific academies, nor in the geographical societies of the 19th century. However, since prehistory, despite the absence of writing, as is well known, geopolitics has been practiced instinctively as part of socio-spatial dialectics and logic.

Once geopolitics emerged theoretically in 1916, it served as a foundation for the Nazi-fascist German state, leading to its defenestration from the academic and university world until its re-institutionalization as new geopolitics in the 1980s.

When delving into the theoretical background, one encounters recent theoretical references: Organicist State Behavior and Geographical Determinism, both from the 19th century. However, it is necessary to delve into more distant theoretical references: Classical Geographical Determinism among the ancient Greeks and the Arabs of the Early Middle Ages. However, it is essential to examine further back in history, since antiquity attests that many of its rulers were intuitively geopolitical, employing geostrategic alliances, warfare, and primitive geographical determinism, very remote references of geopolitics. The latter speaks to paleogeopolitical thought and imagination, one of the most significant findings of this research.
